The Coalition for Fair Trade was set up to promote the Fair Trade movement in Poland. Its members are non-government organizations that support Fairtrade. Concerned companies and individuals have partner status. Together, they promote Fair Trade through public actions, organising events, media contact, publication of informative and campaigning materials, lobbying activities. The Coalition cooparates with Fairtrade Labelling Organisations International, which supports its activity.
Fairtrade.org.pl was set up to bring people concerned about Fair Trade in Poland togetrher. It will serve as a source of information and a platform for communication and discussion. Organisations and individuals may use it to get to know about upcoming events and to advertise their own projects, which have to do with Fair Trade. This should result in better connections among people involved in Fair Trade in Poland, facilitate cooperation and strengthen the movement. Fairtrade.org.pl will also provide articles and materials about Fair Trade for Polish readers. Accessible and comprehensive information is important to make people concerned about the issue.

16 march 2009: Foundation of the Coalition.
First meeting of the Coalition took place in Warsaw. 12 members and partners signed up the declarations to join the Coalition for Fair Trade.
World Fair Trade Day was decided to be the first action coordinated by the Coalitio. The members and partners decided on the common points of all regional events and organising a general press conference to promote them.
The Coalition responded to Fair Trade Advocacy Office request to coordinate the campaign "Pledge for Fair Trade" on the national level in Poland. The europewide campaign is linked to the elections to the European Parliament.
9-8 November 2008: The seminar "Professionalisation of Polish NGOs activity in Fair Trade" took place in Warsaw.
A number of organisations and companies involved in Fair Trade in our country participated in the lectures about Fairtrade certification system delivered by experts from Fairtrade Labelling Organisations Int., TransFair Germany and Fairtrade Foundation. It was an opportunity for a lot of networking among Polish participants, as well as with the representative of Czech Fair Trade movement. It was agreed to set up a Coalition for Fair Trade, that would coordinate the movement in Poland. The prospective organisation is supported by FLO Int. and TransFair Germany. In the interim period this website and the mailing list are the tools to create the legal framework for the Coalition. The administrators of fairtrade.org.pl are appointed to write down, consult and disseminate the founding documents. The outcome materials from the seminar, which contain information about Fair Trade and FLO Int. certification system, are available in Polish on this website in the materials section. The seminar was a part of the project "Professionalisation of NGOs activity in Fair Trade in Poland" which was realised by the Foundation for the Support of Ecological Initiatives, donated by Foundation Education for Democracy in the framework of Polish Foreign Ministry Developement Aid Program in 2008.
